What are some key ways that you can find the location of a specific area, how could this by useful to someone?
Ask what students already know
Go through the PowerPoint
Locate Greece on a map, given latitude and longitude coordinates
Wrap up by telling what learned and asking questions on still unclear topics

3. Where is the Equator?
The equator is the imaginary line around the center of the Earth.

4. Where is the Prime Meridian?
The Prime Meridian is perpendicular to the equator. It helps to decide east and west longitude lines.

5. Latitude
Latitude lines go horizontal across the Earth. 0 degrees is the equator, above is North, and below is South.

6. Longitude
Longitude lines are vertical on the Earth. 0 degrees is the Prime Meridian, to the right is East, and to the left is West.

7. Can you find Greece on the map?
I am going to give a pair of students a map
It will be your task to determine at what longitude and latitude coordinates Greece is found
When you think you have found it raise your hand and I will come over to have you tell me why those coordinates are correct
