1. News Brief Edit Groups of three -10 pts
Staple (or paper clip) one sheet of paper to the back of your news brief
Taking turns, each group member will read their story aloud
After reading, other members of the group can ask questions – write comments on back
After everyone has read, papers will be passed to the right and peers will edit (like a caught ya), and make specific suggestions
The paper must have caught ya marks on the story and detailed comments from both editors on the back for all three to get credit

2. News Brief Checklist What should you be looking/listening for?
Good summary lead (5 W’s and H)
Inverted pyramid style (important stuff first)
Writing in past tense and third person
Short paragraphs/long sentences
At least 3 quotes
DOES IT HAVE ALL OF THE REQUIRED INFORMATION? IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO KNOW?
DOES IT LEAVE OUT UNNECESSARY INFORMATION?
