Introduction Information seeking is the process in which persons persistently engage to exchange to change their state of knowledge (Marchionini, G., 1995) Information seeking is a conscious effort to acquire information in response to a need or gap in your knowledge (Case, D. Information seeking is one such activity of in which all individual are indulged and this information seeking activity of each individual is equally manifested by a certain kind of behaviour (Wiberley , S. E., & Jones, W. G., 1989) At the root of the problem of the information seeking behaviour is the concept of information need, which has proved intractable for the reason advanced (Wilson, T. D., 1981) Information seeking behaviour has also over a period of time grown as an aspect of scholarly work to which academic librarians engaged in developing the collections, providing services in library to facilitate information seeking.

ICT has unfolded the ocean of knowledge, be it multimedia aspect of the technology of the web 2.0 application , there is looking back for humans, who day one day out are reaping all types of benefits of ICT. Technological developments have doubled the responsibility of the library professionals ICT applications have given a great deal of push to the library professionals as well. It become indispensible for the libraries and library professionals to follow the suit and they do have to be on their toes the ICT application has transformed the course of information production, it’s collection, it’s consumption, it’s dissemination and ultimately it’s exploitation. Library professionals are supposed to be trained organisers of knowledge and information and are being also put at the responsibility to help the exploitation of information and when it comes to exploitation of social media this means there is an added responsibility of providing skills and search guidance of seekers of information.
