Selecting a product type
The product(s) of a research project should be decided at the beginning of research design, and specified in the Terms of Reference (ToR). Consider: What is the purpose of the research? Who is the audience? What sort of information will it contain? How should information be presented? How long should the product be?

Report Purpose: To provide in depth analysis on a specific topic, beyond simple descriptive statistics Audience: Response Planning Contents: Full research, in depth analysis Layout: Portrait, A4 Length: ≥ 50 pages

Situation Overview Purpose:
To provide a timely context and/or situation analysis at a specific time of a crisis Audience: Strategic Planning Contents: Cross sector analysis, crisis timeline specific Layout: Landscape, A4 Length: ≤ 10 pages

Profile Purpose: To provide an analysis of the main issues related to an area/location, thematic or sector Audience: Operations, Response Planning Contents: Area/thematic/sector specific Layout: Portrait, A4 Length: ≤ 10 pages

Factsheet Purpose: To present key indicators and their values at a glance for easy reference Audience: Operations Planning Contents: Indicators & figures only, no analysis Layout: Portrait or Landscape, A3 or A4 Length: 1-2 pages
