3. Structure of Year 1 Four blocks:
1) Foundations of Biomedical Sciences 1
        FBS1 (FAE, CBSS, CGCC, NAM, PPP)
2) Foundations of Biomedical Sciences 2
        FBS2 (AOS, PPoS, IAI)
3) Genes, Behaviour and Environment
        GBE (H&N, NBSS, HIEBM, EAB, Genomics)
4) Doctor and Society and Introduction to Clinical Skills 
        DASICS
Anatomy, physiology, generally what they’ll have learned by the end of the year
Timeline? FBS1 before christmas, FBS2 and GBE after christmas? Can’t remember

4. FBS1
FAE - anatomy of the abdomen, perineum, some endocrinology, UNDERSTAND HOW NERVES WORK
PPP - heart anatomy and physiology, GPCRs ARE SUPER IMPORTANT; one whole week for liver and one for GI tract, much more chemistry. My advice is to learn from first principles, so that you understand everything going forwards. Don’t just try to keep up with lectures.
NAM is a lot of biochemistry but also interesting diseases, so there is some practical application
Not much practical application or diseases but KEEP AT IT!

5. FBS2 Is IAI still online for them?
AOS - back, ALL ABOUT THE heart and lungs
PPoS - heart and lung physiology; the first bit of practical knowledge they’ll get. Like how to treat altitude sickness, different kinds of respiratory disease

Portfolio entries and online learning activities
Some people think this isn’t important. If you fail your portfolio you can’t even sit your exams so everything you learn this year, including DASICs, has a purpose to it.

Don’t forget everything you learn will be to save someone's life not for an exam.
