3 What is a Class Rep? A link between your classmates, your school of study, services and the Students’ Association

4 Class Representatives are…
Leaders & Advocates Agents of positive change A point of contact for the students with problems A source of confidential feedback to your school of study and the Students’ Association A representation of the opinions of your entire class, not just your own

Academic and Program concerns and feedback Program Council Student Experience Class Rep Meetings

6 Program Councils Program Council meetings are where class reps, faculty, and academic admin’s discuss topics related to your program of study Minimum of one (1) meeting per term Program Council meetings will be called by the Academic Chair

7 Class Rep Meetings The Students’ Association hosts Class Rep Meetings throughout the year to gather feedback and ideas from Class reps on the Student Experience Get to know the Board of Directors and other Class Representatives Participation in meetings is the most effective way to have your voice heard

8 Your Responsibilities
Attend Class Rep Training, Meetings and Program Councils Be visible and available to all your classmates Maintain a respectful relationship with all staff Actively seek feedback and gather input Raise student issues Keep your class informed of action you’ve taken to address concerns

9 Do’s and Don’t’s Do Ask your professor if you can use a few minutes in class to introduce yourself and explain how students can contact you Respect confidentiality of your classmates Listen and communicate Talk to the SA! You as Class Reps have an express line

10 Do’s and Don’t’s Don’t Be a counsellor. Class Reps do not address personal issues Be the enforcer. All staff issues should be elevated to the Academic Chair Get caught up trying to fix isolated issues Neglect your classmates Represent quietly

11 Class Representative Process
Make yourself visible and approachable Identify issues Gather feedback from your classmates Establish who to direct your issue to Bring your issue forward at a Program Council or Class Rep Meeting
