Objective I can write an effective and convincing argument based on the requirements of a timed AP prompt. (CB 1) (W ) Instruction: Timed Write Argument: Carefully read the prompt. Flip the page over and read the scoring guide. Highlight important aspects of what the test reader is looking for in an essay. Look closely at 8 (Effective-97%), 6 (Adequate-85%), 4 (Inadequate 75%) and 2 (Little Success 55%). When you are finished. Write a short explanation on the front of the prompt page that states the AP score (0-9) you think you have earned. Use evidence from both your essay and the scoring sheet to justify WHY you deserve that score. Homework: HW: Chapter 6: Pages Turn chapter 6 into Cornell Notes (have notes ready for block day!)

Collect: The Great Gatsby Part One: Study Guide and Pass out Part 2 Collaborative work: Review Sample Essays and Scoring Guide: Score sample papers yourself. Read through 3 sample essays Mark which essay you believe is the 8, the 6 and the 4. Compare your choices as a team. Analyze the scoring guide to determine why you believe the scoring guide supports the score you chose for each paper.
