1920’s LEARNING TARGETS: 1. I can explain how the 1920’s were a decade of pro-business Republican controlled government and what that meant for progressive ideals. 2. I can explain how the Communist Revolution impacted life in the United States from the “Red Scare” to immigration policies. 3. I can describe why Prohibition (a progressive idea for good) evolves into a gangster related culture focused on breaking the law. 4. I understand how the young people of this decade became known as the “Lost Generation” after having survived World War I. 5. I am able to describe to others why this decade was known as the “Jazz Age” and what social and cultural changes took place that made it that way. 6. I can explain to others the changing roles of minorities and women during this period including such things as the 19th Amendment and the Harlem Renaissance.
