THE SCHOOL-TO-WORK DRAWING CONTEST
INTRODUCTION (For Teachers) THE SCHOOL-TO-WORK DRAWING CONTEST What do you enjoy most? Do you like to ride a horse? How about playing games or reading a book? All of us can think of fun things we love to do. It is possible for you to get a job or even a career doing something that you like. If you like animals, you could be a veterinarian, work in a zoo, be a horse trainer, a farmer, or a biologist. If you like games, you could help create new games or manage a sports facility. If you like books, you could write your own books, be a librarian, or work at a newspaper. You can do just about anything. It is never too early to start thinking about your career. The most important thing for you to do NOW is to start thinking of the things you like to do. Exploring careers is fun. Planning your education NOW will make it easier for you to become what you would like to be. WAIT A MINUTE!! How can you decide what you like to do? How can you learn about all these different careers? The answers can be found in a program in Hopkins County Schools. It is called SCHOOL-TO-WORK. It will help you discover what your interests are. SCHOOL-TO-WORK will help you explore new and exciting careers. It will guide you in your quest for your career education. From kindergarten through high school, you will learn about careers. You will hear people talk about the jobs that interest you. Field trips will allow you to watch and talk to people as they do their jobs. You will play games and take part in other fun activities. The next few school years will be the most exciting of your life. SCHOOL-TO-WORK will help you find out about interesting careers. Are you ready to get started? O.K.! Now is the time to begin preparing for your future. The Hopkins County SCHOOL-TO-WORK office is sponsoring a drawing contest. Let’s talk about it! The theme is “What I Want to Be.” There will be a winning drawing in each school. The winning person will be recognized on Awards Day and receive a Certificate of Achievement. The district-wide winner will receive a $50 savings bond provided by First United Bank.

P-4 SCHOOL-TO-WORK DRAWING CONTEST Materials: White Shopping Bag Crayons (Only) Guidelines: Draw on one side of the shopping bag. The words “School-to-Work” must be somewhere on this side. On the other side of the shopping bag, write the title of your drawing and give an explanation of your drawing. Also, place your name, your teacher’s name, and you school name on this side. Use only crayons to draw on the shopping bag. THEME: “What I Want to Be” Choose a job. Make an original drawing of yourself working in the job when you grow up. Be sure to show details about what you will be doing in this job.

Day 1 How do I know what I want to be? Everything you do, from homework to sports, will help you decide on the job you want when you are finished with your education.
