Important Academic Facts
A minimum of a D- is required to earn credits towards graduation; colleges require a minimum of C. Failed classes earn no credits, but are calculated in the GPA as a Zero and remain on the transcript. Credits earned outside Prospect only go on the transcript if needed to graduate (i.e.; community college…)

Single application = CSU - $55 and UC - $70 Impacted campuses, so apply broadly Minimum GPA = CSU and UC 15 Required “A-G” courses 11 courses to be completed by end of junior year Acceptance notices by end of March, for most campuses Students submit Student Intent to Register by May 1 Final transcripts sent by Tuesday after graduation

Don’t send transcripts when applying unless requested by the college Final transcript must be received by the college’s deadline Report ALL “a-g” courses attempted and all grades earned. If repeated a course, list original course/grade and repeated course/grade.

Validation Validation applies when a student has earned a D or F in some A-G classes Validation can occur with just a semester of higher-level coursework. Important Test Score Facts
Submit SAT & ACT Scores electronically ACT scores to one UC and/or CSU campus and scores will be available to all campuses SAT to CSU School Code 3594 for all CSU campuses SAT to one UC campus and scores will be available to all campuses Do not use Score Choice Option – Delays delivery of scores to UC Scores are not sent by Prospect High School

UC Application & Personal Insight Questions
8 questions for choose from. Student must respond to any 4 out of the 8 questions. Word limit = 350 words. Avoid: creative writing, quotes, acronyms, repetition, inappropriate use of humor, story telling/scene setting, asking questions Everything on the application is considered Nothing on the application considered negative. Data used to determine eligibility, to build a clear picture of who the student is, & to determine best fit.

In “Additional Comments” section student may include: Grade repeats, medical issue, adjustment to number of AP’s taken, non-academic ex: car accident What opportunities available – what did they take advantage of Include responsibilities at home, work…. Don’t use acronyms – spell out title of organization, club, … Description matters: clarity, context, selectivity Sad stories are not a guarantee of admission Don’t have to entertain them Richness and meaning to application with every entry they make on the application

Common Application & Naviance
Seniors applying to Common App Member Colleges will: 1) Open a Common App account at 2) Complete the FERPA (privacy document). 3) Students must ‘add requests’ teachers through Naviance but must add "other recommenders" through the Common App. Teachers will log in through Naviance to complete recommendation forms and send them. 4) Complete and submit College Applications and any Supplemental documents required by each college 5) Access your Naviance account and ensure your list of "Colleges I'm Applying to" includes those colleges in your Common App account, UC, CSU, and any other colleges you are applying to. Naviance is used exclusively by Guidance and teachers to submit required high school documentation to colleges. 5) Follow Common App on Facebook for updates and other helpful information
