3 Primary and secondary packaging
Primary and secondary packaging is often created from a flat form. Transportation is an expensive part of the overall cost of a product; moving flat packed boxes helps to keep the cost down. Primary packaging holds the product. This is the package that you would see on a shelf in a shop. It will give a level of protection to the product, promote the product and also give product information. Secondary packaging is used for storage and transportation of goods. Used in warehouses where lots of the same product are packed together and stacked, waiting to be distributed to shops, or opened to fill gaps in shelves.
