4 General Procedures Be seated when the bell rings with your homework turned in and your cell phone in the pocket Problem of the Day (given 5 minutes to complete) To be checked and graded at random Please hold all bathroom uses until AFTER the lecture. If it’s an emergency, please quietly raise your hand to be excused If you finish your work early, you may: work on an assignment for another class, read a book, review your notes, complete a puzzle, or start working on tonight’s homework

5 Classroom Discussions
Please participate Ask questions if you don’t understand Stop me if I am going too fast I want to hear what you have to say Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion If your question is off topic, write it down and ask later

6 Class Dismissal DO NOT stand by the door or out of your seat. If anyone is standing when the bell rings, everyone will have to wait until that person sits and I dismiss you. The teacher dismisses you, NOT THE BELL!

7 Phone Usage Any phone will be confiscated if seen (whether in use or not)!!! You are NOT allowed to use your phone during classwork even if you only use the calculator function. This is why a calculator is one of your required materials. The only times you can use your phone is if I ask you to take a picture of the classwork/homework or when you have turned in and successfully completed your work.

8 Tardy If you are not present the moment the bell rings (i.e., in your seat after turning in your homework and phone), you are considered tardy When you are tardy, Enter quietly Excused: Place excuse on my desk Unexcused: Sign Tardy Folder (new each 9 weeks) 1st time: Warning 2 times: Detention 3 times: Conference

This page will contain all the materials and assignments for the course. It also contains a page on study links that will be useful and interesting for you. Be sure to visit my website regularly. In addition, if you have any questions, you can me straight from the website.

14 Note-Taking Surprise checks will be made and a grade will be given
You should copy everything I tell you to All examples should be completed. This includes On Your Own exercises.

15 Classwork/Homework Worth 30% of your grade
There will be approximately one classwork and one homework assigned each class Write your name, period and assignment title on the top right corner Unless given a worksheet by me, all work must contain an answer column (preferably on the side of the 1st page) No work shown will be given no points If I catch anyone copying their homework, both the copier and the lender will receive F’s on their assignment for cheating There will be a homework bin by my desk. I will call a warning before homework is collected. This is typically done within the first 5 minutes of class. If your homework is not in the bin by that time, it will be considered late and scored accordingly.

16 Tests Worth 40% of your grade
All students who receive A’s on their tests will receive a star to display on the back of the classroom There will be one test given each chapter (or unit) On each test day, there will be a minute review which comprises of questions you might see on the exam. You will not be required to take notes. I instead want you to absorb the information and ask questions if there is anything you don’t understand. If you are late or absent, I will not go over the review again.

17 Quizzes Worth 20% of your grade
There will be two quizzes every chapter (or unit). These quizzes can be unannounced so make sure to review what we learned before each class.

18 Late Assignment Policy
If you miss a class, you are permitted to makeup all assignments so long as they are turned in by the next class. The same rule applies for exams. If you missed an exam, you have to take that exam as soon as you come back during class. You will be responsible for any work missed that class. No late assignments will be accepted past the class you return.

19 Grading Policy Notebook Checks % Classwork/Homework % Tests % Quizzes % ___________ Total 100% Note: In the 4th Quarter, there will be a Final Project which will count for 10% of your grade. Therefore, the grading scale will be adjusted to: Tests 30%, Quizzes 20%, Classwork/Homework 30%, Notebook Checks 10%, and the Project 10%.
