2 Homework check Homework –
You should have brought in an example of a questionnaire that you found in a magazine or on the internet. Have a look at the questionnaires on your table. What do they have in common? How are they different? What are open questions? What are closed questions?

3 Learning objectives To learn about what questionnaires are.
To learn how questionnaires are written. To investigate the strengths of questionnaires. To investigate the weaknesses of questionnaires.

4 Text book Use pages 138-139 to help you with this activity.
1) Discuss what is meant by rank-style questions. 2) What are Likert-type scales? 3) Write down the definitions for the key terminology if necessary.

5 Task Design a questionnaire to investigate a person’s TV viewing habits. Your questionnaire should include at least 5 open questions, 5 closed questions, 2 rank-style questions and 2 Likert-style questions. You will also need to write standardised instructions and a debrief.

6 Evaluating The Questionnaire
Use the questionnaire that you gathered for your homework OR use the Bennet-Levy Questionnaire from last lesson to answer the questions on the worksheet.

7 Evaluating questionnaires
Using pages we now need to think about the strengths and weaknesses of questionnaires. Swap your questionnaire with someone on your table. Use the evaluation sheet to evaluate their questionnaire.

8 Homework Find out about two famous experiments involving animals.
