3 The Council in Brief Founded in early 1990s (impetus, Sun article)
Primarily Student Council with Administrative Assistance Adjudicates honor code violations, reported by members of the Loyola community Approximately 30 Members (5 of them co-chairs) 2 Administrative Moderators 6+ Faculty Administrators Baltimore Sun article summary: Students in a Computer Science class admitted to the Sun that every student in the class cheated their way to passing. Essentially what that lead to is the Loyola Degree meaning that the students came from a University of cheaters and dishonest people. The Honor Council is a way for the students to uphold the integrity of their degree.

4 Duties of an individual Honor Council Member
Commit to being available 5 hours per week for hearings Attend semester meetings Be on time, properly dressed, and prepared for each case Have good communication abilities Be reachable by on a daily basis Have an expert understanding of the Academic Code of Honor. Be willing and prepared to make difficult choices Maintain confidentiality Uphold own personal integrity

Two total faculty nominations (you can check your nominations today if you like) Statement of intent Why you would like to join the council What attributes make you a good candidate for the council What challenges you may face being a member on the council and how you will overcome them What are your current time commitments and how will the Honor Council fit in your schedule Nominations and statements should be ed to Due date is April 19th, 2017 Please note: New Members MUST be here in the Fall to be trained, so if you are planning an abroad experience for Fall 2017, you will not be able to join us next year. Your faculty nominations can be saved for the following year if you are still interested. If you will be here Fall 2017, but plan to be abroad Spring 2018, that is acceptable.
