Period 6 Sentence Practice
Simple: Romeo is fifteen years old. Tybalt is eloquent. The Prince has a lot of dexterity in taking charge. The Prince reveals his dexterity in riding in the opening scene. Compound: Friar Laurence agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet, so the families can be reconciled. Lady Capulet is never jocund, so she is hard on Juliet. Complex: Juliet was taught to be civil while Sampson was not. because she is from the noble class. Since Prince is a monarch, he is very powerful. Tybalt became saucy when he sees Romeo at his uncle’s party. Compound/Complex: Romeo is not jocund in the opening of the play, but he is when he meets Juliet.

Simple: Tybalt is a very martial man. Romeo is very jocund. Compound: The Prince wishes to be a monarch, but the feud between the two houses may prevent that from happening. Romeo would lose the fight with Tybalt, so he should not duel him. Complex: Because Romeo is in love, he tries to talk to her after the party. Although Romeo has found another love, she is still from the Capulet house. Compound/Complex: Although Romeo is civil, the two cannot get married, and they both must find a way to marry in secret. when he sees Juliet.

Simple: Romeo wants to marry Juliet. Benvolio is very civil. Compound: Romeo speaks to Juliet in the orchard, so she feels jocund. There was fighting between the Capulets and the Montagues, but the Prince dismembered it. Complex: Although Paris is civil, Juliet desires Romeo’s love. Compound/Complex

Simple: They have the plague. Verona was afflicted with the plague. Compound: Romeo is sad, and his mom is trying to help. Romeo is allowed to roam the streets, but Juliet is stuck within the confines of her house. Complex: Although Paris is civil, Juliet’s heart desires Romeo. Romeo is jocund when he sees Juliet. Compound/Complex Romeo is sad that he cannot be with Juliet, but someone from the monarchy can be. Because I got the plague, I feel bad, and I cannot feel my toes. The townspeople of Verona are ill with the plague even though they tried to stay inside to avoid it.

Period 4 Sentence Types Practice
Simple: Romeo is a civil young man. Juliet has a jocund personality. Compound: Romeo takes Juliet by the hand, and she says that he has dexterity in kissing. Lady Capulet wants Juliet to marry Paris, so she can become part of a monarchy/so she can become a monarch. Complex: Because Tybalt is overprotective of Juliet, he hates that Juliet dances with Romeo. Because Tybalt tries to start a fight with Romeo, Lord Capulet prevails over him. Tybalt was acting civil at the party until he sees Romeo. Compound/complex: It is renowned that the Capulets and the Montagues hate one another, so Romeo and Juliet would not be permitted to marry. Because Tybalt is very martial, Romeo’s friends worry about Tybalt’s challenge, and they are unaware of whether or not Romeo is ok/safe/alive.
