3 Primary Goals of Policy
1. Ensure all youth in Rotary programs are protected from abuse and harassment 2. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth are properly screened and certified 3. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth are oriented with youth protection policies/procedures 4. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth have an understanding of abuse and harassment, and are familiar with reporting procedures

4 VOLUNTEER SCREENING AND CERTIFICATION Screening must be conducted on
all volunteers who have a supervisory or voluntary role with youth. all committee chairs and club officers who may have a supervisory or voluntary role with youth must be certified annually. Youth Policy Page 5

5 SALEM ROTARY AFFECTED PROGRAMS
Volunteers in these programs: Christmas for Kids Reading Across America Committee chairs of Youth Exchange, RYLA, Interact, Rotaract, and Club Youth Exchange Counselor and Officer

To become certified, the individual must: Complete and submit to a Background Check Meet Rotary International/District eligibility requirements for working with youth Participate in District or Club Youth Protection orientation or training Understand and comply with the District Youth Protection Policy Youth Policy Page 5 & Appendix B

7 Policy Regarding Photographs And Media Publications
1. Waiver signed by student’s parent/guardian 2. Waivers can be disbursed with RYLA and Youth Exchange applications, and to Interact/Rotaract students at the beginning of the school year Youth Policy Page 4 & Appendix A
