Information for Parents……
This term we are experimenting with a more interactive Homework grid. Each grid will take a month to complete. Remember there are four activities on the badge which must be completed. Pupils and parents may select as many of the other activities over the four week period as they like. We do recommend a minimum of two activities per week. Please date the activity when completed. The grid should be returned to school each Tuesday for checking. Have fun!

Write up a ‘mock’ interview with Fidel Castro during the Cold War, or the Emperor of Japan during WWII. Date: Date: Find the diary of a solider from either WWII or the Cold War and read a few pages, note what you find out Compare a Stalin speech with one of Truman’s, or one of Churchill’s with one of Hitler’s Date: Explain in 1 or 2 paragraphs about Star Wars during the Cold War or about “The Treaty of Versailles”‘ Date; Week 1 Design a logo for Capitalism and one for Communism, or one for the WWII Allies. Explain why you have chosen this design. Date: Week 2 Create a Timeline showing what happened in one year of the Cold War or WWII (Your Choice) Date: Create a drama detailing Stalin’s or Hitler’s rise to power Date; Imagine you could write a letter and send it back in time to a Cold War /WWII leader. What would you write? Date: Create a timeline detailing major events leading up to WWII or up the fall of the Berlin Wall during the Cold War Date: Design an ‘improved’ nuclear bunker or an Anderson/Morrison Shelter. Date Week 3 Design an invention that could have saved lives in WW2 or a Cold War invention with a positive spin. Date: Week 4 Predict what would have happened during the Cold War if one side “pressed the button”, or if Hitler had won WWII. Date: Create a small set of ‘Top Trump’ cards for the Space Race or WWII tanks, planes, warships. Date:. Find out what is a Proxy War? Give examples of Proxy Wars and who was involved. Date: Create a model of a nuclear bunker, or an Anderson Shelter. Date: Find out about the role of women during the Cold War, or WWII. Date: Shared Learning at P6/7 Review two British, wartime songs. What messages did they give the population? Date: Create mini-factfiles for all Cold War or WWII leaders include- D.o.B., place of Birth, full name, previous occupations, political party (if any) Date: List the major events of the Space Race, or list the major battles of WWII Date: The 4 badge activities must be completed in order starting with Week 1 Parent and child select as many of the other activities over the 4 week period as they wish.
