Find the experimental probability that you make a free throw.
Example 3 Using Probability to Make a Prediction Basketball Today, you attempted 50 free throws and made 32 of them. Use experimental probability to predict how many free throws you will make tomorrow if you attempt 75 free throws. SOLUTION 1. Find the experimental probability that you make a free throw. P(make a free throw) = 50 32 0.64
2
Example 3 Using Probability to Make a Prediction 2. Multiply the experimental probability by the number of free throws you will attempt tomorrow. 0.64 = 75 • 48 ANSWER If you continue to make free throws at the same rate, you will make 48 free throws in 75 attempts tomorrow.

Checkpoint 3. Use the information in Example 3 to predict how many free throws you would make if you attempt 150 free throws. ANSWER 96 free throws
