1 Welcome to Mrs. McGovern’s 7th Grade Level 1 Mathematics Class

2 Course Description This course is an accelerated, challenging course designed to prepare students for 8th Grade Algebra I. The students will increase their problem solving skills and develop the ability to think abstractly. Students will complete the grade 7 Common Core curriculum. There will be an emphasis on integers, linear equations and the algebraic process throughout the year.

I am continually adding new features so check back often.

4 Homework Homework assignments can be found :
On the whiteboard in front of the classroom On the binder sheet students are given at the beginning of a unit On my website Students are responsible for writing assignments in their agendas. WORKSHEETS I upload the worksheets that students have been assigned for homework. They can be found under the “FILES” section of my website. Students will be able to print them if they forget their homework at school. However, students are still responsible for bringing the assigned worksheet home each day.

5 Grading Your student’s grade is determined using a points system.
- Tests Quizzes End of each unit Usually two per unit Worth 100 points Worth 50 points Unit Review Packet Warm-ups End of each unit Randomly collected Worth 50 points Worth 5 – 10 points Mathemagics Pages Projects End of each unit Worth 50 or 100 points Points determined by page content Daily homework - Worth 100 points Extra Credit: There is an extra credit problem on every test

6 Extra Help Tuesdays - 2:20 – 2:50 SAT (12:05 – 12:28) – except B days

7 Make-up Work Students need to get any missing assignments from the “While You Were Out” folder. The school policies for making up missing assignments, quizzes and tests are in the Student Handbook. It is the student’s responsibility to hand in any work he/she may have missed due to an absence. Students are encouraged to attend Extra Help to go over concepts missed when absent.
