What do Parents and Families Need to Know?
We are all learning together.
Making mistakes is a natural part of learning. We will persevere through solving problems, using many different strategies to make sense of mathematical concepts.
Students will be using high-quality resources to support their mathematical understanding
Avon Community Schools Administration and Board of School Trustees fully supports Secondary Mathematics Teachers in the pursuit and pilot of conceptual understanding as a model for instruction.

4. Students will learn how to productively struggle—to work through problems without formally been “taught”
Students will do this through exploration, collaboration, and questioning strategies.
Students will learn from one another prior till I step in.
I will direct students with questioning strategies rather than directly giving them answers.
Students will experience and work through unfamiliar problems that may require deep thinking, productive struggle, and perseverance.

5. There will be an in-class set of books for the students to use while they are here.
They will be given (next week) an access code to allow them to look at the text outside of my classroom.
All in class worksheets will be posted on Schoology.
