A Few Small Nips This painting was created when Frida was broken hearted on the affair her husband had hey younger sister in 1935 She projected her pain into another woman's misfortune A newspaper report of an unfaithful woman murdered by jealousy provided Kahlo with this subject “but it was just a few small nips!” the violent deed gave symbolic reference to Frida's own mental state and her emotional injuries In the sketch with one dove it had said “my sweetie doesn't love me anymore” but in the final painting with two doves it said “a few small nips”
