1 Starfall.com as a Literacy Station

2 Beginning in January 2009 students began using Starfall
Beginning in January 2009 students began using Starfall.com as a regular literacy station. Each group spent approximately 10 minutes on the computer three to four times a week. Students practiced letters and sounds, as well as reading and sight word recognition. Background

4 Quantitative Data The average DRA level at the beginning
of the year for all students was ~ 3, excluding those at a very high level. After recent testing all students have increased their scores and the average is now closer to 6. Although growth is expected throughout the year, it seems rather impressive that all students have made such wonderful growth. Quantitative Data

5 Qualitative Data Student growth in reading and writing has
been a real sign of student enjoyment of Starfall.com as a literacy station. Overall, all students were very eager when it was their turn to go to computer Station. Student Surveys also provide evidence of student success and their feeling of growth over the year. Qualitative Data

10 Conclusions I feel that the time my students spent on
Starfall.com this year was very beneficial. They were not only able to improved their computer skills, they were also able to improve their reading skills and letter/sound correspondence. I am very interested to try out other reading web sites in the upcoming years. Conclusions
