2 Jan. 2004 Introduction The baseline document needs to have a requirements section to address different types of handoff scenarios. The requirements include QOS Service continuity or session continuity Security Mobile client capability e.g. Is Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) or Removal-User Identify Module (R-UIM) needed? 3 Jan. 2004 An Example The VoIP Requirements during handoff between WLAN and cellular networks are Combined layers 2/3 handoff delay < 40 ms Packet loss < 0.5% Service (not session) continuity during handoff Security level continuity during handoff Client requirement: TBD Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE

4 Jan. 2004 Conclusion Suggest to work on the requirements for seamless handoff between WLAN and cellular networks as the first priority of this group Same type of requirements should also be established for other handoff scenarios (e.g. between and ) Dong-Jye Shyy, MITRE
