Promote infusion of sustainability and equity. Introduce sustainability and equity concepts to students by students. Students for Environmental Justice Club
Purpose Increase awareness at Dillard University and its communities. Encourage education and solutions. Provide motivational lectures and inform students. To increase environmental justice and climate change awareness at Dillard University and its surrounding communities. To encourage environmental justice education and solutions to problems facing communities of color who bear the brunt of disproportionate toxic exposure. To provide motivational lectures and inform students about careers in higher education in the environmental sciences and scholarship/research opportunities at the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice.

DSCEJ EJ Scholars take tour of Eco-friendly house in the Holy Cross Ninth Ward neighborhood in New Orleans. Rebuild the Gulf Coast Student Conference Breakout Session.

Wetlands & Toxic Tours Non profit organizations and college students.
Discussion. Participants meet with community leaders. SO WE CAN DISCUSS OUR TWO MAJOR ISSUES IN THE AREAS THEY ARE HAPPENING WHICH IS WET LAND LOSS AND ENVIRONMENTAL TOXICITY. The DSCEJ organizes Wetlands and Toxic Tours for non profit organizations and college students. Participants discuss the impacts of coastal erosion in the metro New Orleans area and gulf coast. Participants meet with community leaders to discuss environmental justice and climate change concerns in their communities.

Dillard University Youth Leadership Institute
The Deep South Center for Environmental Justice teaches the environmental component of Dillard University’s Youth Leadership Institute Summer Program teaching 7th – 12 graders about environmental justice, climate change, and green jobs.
