Superior Pools Marketing Project
The Problem: The manager of Superior Pools wants to advertise his end-of-season special for pool and hot tub sales and tile installation. The pools, no matter what size or shape, are built with a 2-tile-wide border around the outside. In order to advertise the sale, he needs his marketing team to create a flyer that will let the customers know about the special $2 deal on tiles. He wants to make sure that customers will be able to figure out how many tiles they will need for their pool when they see the flyer.

Your Job: The manager has promised that whoever creates the most effective campaign will receive a $1000 bonus!! In order to create an effective campaign, your ad MUST INCLUDE: Advertisement for Superior Pools, and the $2 Dollar Deal Choose a product to sell: Square Pool, Rectangular Pool, or Square Hot Tub. You must include an example of this product, and an example of the tile border that goes around it. Algebraic Representation: You must provide a formula that the customer can use to calculate the number of tiles they need for their pool. This formula must be CLEAR and provide enough information for the customer to be able to use it themselves if all they know is the size of their pool Geometric Representation: As we saw in class, we can find many different geometric representations that will lead us to the same algebraic expression. Many customers will find these geometric representations helpful. Provide at least 2 different ways to represent the tile border with geometric figures, and a clear explanation of how this geometric representation translates into an algebraic expression (the “formula”). CREATIVITY & CLARITY !

SUPERIOR POOLS DOLLAR DAY$!
We Have Rectangular Hot Tubs! ALL TUB TILES ONLY $2 EACH ONLY WHILE SUPPLIES LAST! Rectangular Hot Tubs, with granite tile borders: Tiles are $2 Each. Use our convenient tile-calculator to find YOUR low price! EASY TILE CALCULATOR: STEP 1: ENTER YOUR tub length & width in the formula below. # Tiles You Need = 2L + 2W + 2 STEP 2: Simplify to find one number STEP 3: Multiply the number of tiles you need times $2.00 per tile….take out your wallet! EXAMPLE: Your hot tub is 3’ long and 2’ wide # Tiles You Need = 2(3) + 2(2) + 2 = =12 12 Tiles x $2 Each = $24.00 L W 2W 2L 2 + Any way you look at it… 2●( ½ + L + ½) = 2●(L + 1) = 2L+2 2W + It’s a SUPERIOR deal!

Extra Credit Opportunities: On a separate paper, provide additional geometric representations and how they translate into an algebraic expression. Make sure you show that the algebraic expressions are different but equivalent. +5 points for each additional accurate and complete representation Submit flyers for more than one product up to +20 points for each additional flyer
