Current situation:
Waste statistics follows implementation of waste politics; collects data from enterprises and private households on generated, recovery and disposed waste.
In the area of waste statistics in conduction of survey is used reporting method.
Surveys are conducted annualy.
MONSTAT – carried out two regular surveys:
- Statistial survey on waste generated in industry (collecting data on types and quantities of waste they generate, internally process and dispose business subjects from industry).
- Statistical survey on municipal waste (collecting data on public collection and disposal of waste by municipalities, on the source of collected waste and on processing of collected waste).

Current situation :
Statistical business register is used as framework for list of reporting units.
Data on municipal waste – every year, Public utility enterprises.
Data on industrial waste (B;C;D NACE Rev.2).
In year 2012 mentioned surveys are harmonized with provision of Regulation 849/2010.
Colleting of data on generated quantities of waste from industry is carried out with use of Manual of waste classification and waste catalogue, that is harmonized with LoW, which is than converted to EWC-Stat/Version 4.
Publication of data on MONSTATs website in the form of Release.

Current situation:
Improved inter-institutional cooperation of Monstat and Agency for Enviromental Protection, in order to obtain uniform data, trough signing Memorandum on Cooperation in 2011.
In cooperation has been extended - Annex I – The agreement on rationalization and consolidation of data collection in the area of waste statistics.
In Pilot projects in the are of waste statistics. Sharing of responsibilites between Monstat and Agency for Enviromental Protection in implementation of pilot survey.

Current situation :
Pilot projects in the area of waste statistics:
Pilot survey on number and capacity of waste treatment facilities;
Pilot survey on waste, brought to the landfill sites – disposal site;
Pilot survey on waste generated in agriculture, forestry and fishing;
Pilot survey on waste generated in the construction and service industries;
Pilot survey on the collection and treatment of waste.

Current situation:
Cooperation in Annex I is done so that ensure the establishing of reliable statistics on generated and treated waste, by economical activities in accordance to NACE Rev.2 and waste categories set according to statistical classification of waste EWC-STAT.
The cooperation aim is to:
- Reduce burden of reporting units,
- Lower survey costs,
- Unique data,
- Bether data quality.

Harmonization:
Partial harmonization
From total required 1491 variables in accordance with sets for data delivery to Eurostat:
- Trough regular surveys in MONSTAT is collected 822 variable
- Other variables are currently collected trough pilot surveys.

The future plans:
In accordance to project IPA 2011 Multi-beneficiary statistical cooperation programme in 2014 and further is planned:
Completion of pilot projects till the April of 2014.
Continued harmonization of waste statistics with EU requirements – transition of pilot to regular surveys;
Preparation of report on quality;
Data delivery to Eurostat;
Production of annual statistics on generation and handling of municipal waste for calculation of indicators of sustainable development.
