WELCOME TO ENTERPRISE! “If you have got a dream big enough and passion to follow it through, you can do anything.”
2
MAKING A BUSINESS PLAN If you can’t see where you’re going, you aren’t going to get there. A Business Plan is a road map to what you want to achieve.
3
HERE’S THE PLAN… Use a 10 minute Powerpoint
to convince us to invest in your enterprise. Follow these steps to make and present a Business Plan:
4
1. THE VISION What goods or services are you providing?
Why will customers want to pay for what you are offering? Write a statement which sums up what you are all about.
5
2. YOUR MARKET Who will you sell to ? Why will this group be
attracted to your product? How big is your target market and where are they?
6
3. COMPETITORS Who are they? What do they sell?
Why will customers choose your product ahead of theirs?
7
4. YOUR TEAM What skills and abilities does each team member bring to the enterprise? How will you use these to support your enterprise? What role will each person take?
8
5. COSTS AND INCOME List all possible sources of income including sales, sponsorship, donations etc. List all possible costs including supplies, advertising, etc. How much income do you need to cover your investment?
9
6. PROJECTIONS What is your worst-case profit scenario?
How can you avoid it? What is your best profit scenario? How can you achieve it?
10
7. MARKETING STRATEGY Outline exactly how you are going to go about selling your product/service. Include design tools selected from your Business Literacy folder. Make sure your budget includes an allowance for advertising.
11
8. START UP COSTS Estimate these to the best of your ability.
This may involve some research.
12
Environmental impact Explain how your enterprise will be environmentally friendly: Can you REDUCE/REUSE/RECYCLE ? What energy will you consume? Who will clean up after you?
13
Timeline Plan your Enterprise BACKWARDS, from the time you do your final report to the time you start planning. Consult the School Diary and Class Calendar to arrange dates that avoid clashes with other activities and events. Make a list in logical order of what you have to do and arrange when to do it.
