5. Arriving at school ‘Pop-up shop’ on the pathway
Pupils able to buy basic uniform (tie) & equipment

Will be allowed to enter school & will go to form-time at 8:30am

Going through routines & sharing expectations regularly, in good times as well as bad – coaching: our values (unpick ‘Respect’ & how to address a member of staff), what good behaviour looks like & why important

DAILY CHECK of the Standards Card
Build ethos: congratulate those who are keeping to the rules
Encourage/challenge those who have gained 1-3 signatures
Refer those who have gained 4+ signatures = Detention (DT)

8. The Standards Card
Each student will carry at all times a Standards Card. Pupils who do not keep to the rules, especially with regard to uniform – shirt tucked in, tie to the top, etc. or unacceptable conduct around the site – running on the corridors, shouting, lack of purposefulness to lessons, etc. – will receive a signature from a member of staff. FOUR signatures = a DT. Failure to carry or produce the Standards Card will also result in a DT.

9. DTs Will be served on the day Will last one hour
Will be served on Saturday am where more that 2 DTs have been accrued
A missed DT = IE
‘Persistent failure’ = FTE

10. Pupils who do NOT comply at the gate
Will NOT be allowed to enter school & will be escorted to A3

11. Arriving late to school
Any lateness to school, unless authorised for medical reasons etc., will result in a DT

12. Arriving late to lesson
Any lateness to lesson will result in a DT – movement is expected to be purposeful, with pupils expected to be in session within 4 minutes of a changeover

13. Pupils placing themselves at risk of IE
3 main reasons:
Refusal to comply (with instructions)
Disruption of teaching & learning
Aggression/ intimidation towards/ of another pupil

Talking unnecessarily or chatting
Calling out without permission
Being slow to start work or follow instructions

Answering back, challenging authority, arguing the toss

16. In some schools across England, 10 minutes of every lesson can be wasted through low-level disruption. That’s almost a lesson a day wasted or one day a week wasted or half a term of learning time wasted each year, the same as almost all of year 11 being wasted… how can students catch up upon that time? The truth is that often they can’t, meaning that they fall further & further behind. That means at GCSE they are not able to compete on equal terms with students whose behaviour is better…

17. Warning!
‘Warning now, X. (Insert reason) is not allowed; (add a descriptive reason – ‘it’s distracting’). Make sure you make a good choice now or you will be sent to Internal Exclusion.’ Write name on board as a reminder.

18. Exiting a pupil to IE
A second warning = immediate exit to Internal Exclusion (IE) on the A corridor (A3, A4 & A5 will be used)

19. FYI: pupils in IE Will book in Will be allocated a seat
Will be expected to serve a full day, break & lunch included
Break in room, lunch from 12:45 with FSMs catered for
Toilet breaks on A corridor (currently staff toilets)
Will continue the following day if they have been exited mid-session (i.e., if they are exited P3, they will serve the rest of the day in IE plus Ps 1 & 2 the following school day
Will be ‘flagged up’ on SIMs so that staff can see who is where (safeguarding)
Will do a reflection task plus 5 hours of work, ending the day at 3:30pm
Work = Key Skills, English, Maths, Science & General
Year 11 pupils to follow own curriculum

20. Restorative justice
If you wish to meet with the pupil after school until 3:30pm, there is a tick-box on the red card to fill in, otherwise leave it blank
