1. Quick Write #1: Native American Tradition
Look at the timeline on page 18 in your book. There are actually 3 timelines there on the page. Write down 3 events (total, not per timeline) that stand out in your mind and the year that they took place. You can summarize the events. Then write why these events seem important and/or surprising to you.

2. Quick Write #2: Oral Tradition
Listen to the story like a good Pawnee Indian would have. Don’t read along! That’s cheating in this case. (It’s the only time I will probably ever say that to you in this class.)
Think about the meaning of the story. Particularly consider the setting, characters, and the lesson to be learned.
