Summary: Hannah loves gorillas very much but she never sees them in person. Her father is always busy with works so he doesn’t have time to take her anywhere. One time on her birthday, her father gives her a small toy gorilla and she throws it into a corner. At night, Hannah dreams about her gorilla becomes a real gorilla and takes her to the zoo, cinema, restaurant and lawn. Next morning, when she wakes up, she sees her small gorilla lies next to her and her father takes her to the zoo finally. She is very happy.

Lesson Plan First, I’ll ask children some questions before read-aloud.
Student number: 10 to 15 Age level: 5 years old to 10 years old Procedure: First, I’ll ask children some questions before read-aloud. For example, who went to zoo before? Then children will answer the question. I’ll keep saying: but in this story, Hannah doesn’t go to zoo before. Let’s see why she never goes to zoo before. (About 3 minutes)
6
Second, I’ll start to read-aloud
Second, I’ll start to read-aloud. In the beginning, I’ll tell children how much Hannah loves gorillas so you can see many gorillas in pictures. And try to find them out. During read-aloud, I’ll point out answers what I’ll ask after reading aloud. (About 10 minutes)
7
Third, asking questions again after reading-aloud
Third, asking questions again after reading-aloud. Here are my questions: What’s the girl’s name in the story? Why Hannah never go to zoo before? What did Hannah’s father give her for birthday gift? Which place did Hannah and Gorilla go first? What did Hannah and Gorilla do after seeing movie? What did Hannah do after waking up? When I ask questions, I’ll move page to where answer is. I’ll give children, who tell me the right answer candies or stickers for reward. This way will be the motivation to let them think about the right answer. (5 to 10 minutes)

Before class, I’ll make some cards like Picture 1
Before class, I’ll make some cards like Picture 1. There are animals on cards with colorful background. I’ll also make cards like Picture 2. Write words with colors. Picture 1 Picture 2
9
Forth, I’ll show children those cards then teach them every animals’ name and colors on cards. (About 5 minutes) Fifth, playing “Memory Match” game with them. Show them cards like Picture 3 first. Let them memorize cards first. And then turn back cards like Picture 4. Picture 3 Picture 4
10
If child A finds out two same cards and speaks the animals name correctly, I’ll give child A candies or stickers. Then using cards which child A finds out to ask child B “which color of its background?” Let child B find the answer from Picture 2. As usual, if child B finds out the right answer, I’ll give child B candies or stickers. (10 to 20 minutes) Picture 3 Picture 2

The purpose and function:
I ask questions before read-aloud because I want to let children into this story. After reading-aloud, I ask some questions because it is a good way to let children remember what this story talk about. In this book, the author used many colors and talked about the zoo. That’s the reason why I chose memory match game. I want to let children know how to speak animals’ name and words of colors in English. Also, it will improve children’s memory. Maybe they can know how to spell words of colors, too.
