1 Impact-First Profitable Peer-to-Peer Poverty Reduction
i1P2P: Profitable poverty reduction

2 The Problem: Capital and Access
Rice farmers in Myanmar, like smallholder farmers all over the world, are locked in a cycle of barely getting by because they lack the capital and market access they need to grow their farming businesses. In fact, smallholder farmers account for 75% of the world’s poorest people.

3 The Solution: Capital and Access
The resource smallholders want When and where they want them In a format they can use At i1P2P, our vision is to reduce poverty by building a profitable business model on providing smallholder farmers with the resources they want, when and where they want them, in a format they can use.

4 The Opportunity: The World Bank estimate of microcredit demand in Myanmar is $1 Billion. Current microcredit supply in Myanmar is $283 Million Our break even market penetration is $34.5 Million Myanmar did not really join the cellphone revolution until about 2 years ago. By that point, smartphones had become the norm in the developed world, so customers in Myanmar jumped straight from no phones to smart phones. The new government of Myanmar is committed to increasing agricultural output as it is one of the four pillars of their party’s platform. They are also actively seeking and supporting international investors. The World Bank estimates the demand for microcredit in Myanmar to be $1 billion. The current microcredit supply is $283 million Our 3-5 year goal of 20% market penetration among smallholder farmers will supply $368 million in new microcredit. Our 3-5 year goal of reaching 20% of farmers with an average $230 loan = $368 Million

5 Our Competitive Advantage:

6 The Model: Uploads Downloads Pics and Map Our App Buy/Sell/Trade
or Borrow Electronic Banking P2P micro-lending, crop insurance, electronic banking and E-commerce for smallholder farmers. How does it work? The farmer downloads our app and joins our community. As part of filling out their profile, they upload some pictures of themselves and their farm and walk the perimeter of their farm with their smartphone to map it on google earth. Our app then sets up an account for them on Stellar’s platform which gives them access to electronic banking, in their own language. Using their new Stellar account, we connect the farmer with lenders who are willing to give them a loan, using Zidisha’s source code. As part of the loan, we include ACRE’s crop insurance. Our app uses Ninayo’s platform to display buyers and sellers in the farmer’s vicinity and what they are offering. The farmer can easily post anything they have to buy/sell/trade or borrow on this platform and connect with a customer near them. P2P Lending Crop Insurance

7 15%APR $230 $1 5 month $14.37-$1= $13.37 $67.08-$14.37= $52.71
The Money: $14.37-$1= $13.37 Lender’s ROI 15%APR Current market rate = 60-70% APR $67.08-$14.37= $52.71 Borrower’s Savings $230 Avg. Microloan in Myanmar $1 i1P2P’s Fee The loan rate is fixed at 15% APR. Thanks to Stellar, there are no other transaction fees. On a $230, 5 month, 15% APR loan, the lender makes $14.37, less the $1 fee, so they net $13.37 for doing a good deed. The borrower saves $53.71 over the current market rate of 70% APR (6% monthly). This translates to a savings of 3.7% of the farmer’s annual net income. We make a dollar. Everyone wins! 5 month Length of growing season Everyone Wins !

8 $1.6 million 20% = Business vs. Charity
Annual Gross for $1 each 20% Myanmar Market Penetration 1.6 out of 8 million smallholders = Why is this a business and not a charity? There are 8 million smallholder farm families in Myanmar. At a 20% market penetration, at $1 each, we will gross $1.6 million a year. (There are 500 million smallholder farmers in the world.)
