According to Modiano’s EIL model your students may not be speakers of a learner English (an intermediary step on their journey to near native-speaker English), but speakers of a Czech- Variety Lingua Franca English. 1. How many of them do you think would agree with this description? 2. How might or should this impact on your teaching?

Which of these sentences might be correct European-Variety Lingua Franca English? 1. Most people would chose video-on-demand over movie rental if the price would be the same. 2. If I would have left in one month, she wouldn’t have fixed it. 3. Democratic states should do this, but in a context where there is multi-party elections. 4.
