2 Old World Plants and Animals
Columbian Exchange- The exchange of plants, animals and ideas between the Americas and Europe. Measles and Smallpox from rats hiding on the ships. Old World Bananas Horses Sugarcane

3 New World Plants and Animals
Europeans also took samples back to Europe as well as Asia and Africa. This changed eating habits of people around the world. New World Peanuts Sweet Potatoes Tobacco Corn

4 Religion and Language Missionaries worked to convert people in Asia, Africa and the Americas to Christianity. Missionaries ran schools teaching European languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch.

6 Technology The Europeans introduced guns and steel to Africa and the Americas. They introduced the idea of using animals as technology (horses and oxen) New textiles and sugarcane were grown on plantations (large farms)

7 Treatment of American Indians
They were forced to work under harsh treatment. The American Indian population had shrunk by more than 80% in the 1600s.

8 Slavery and Society Disease killed so many American Indians, so it was suggested by to use enslaved Africans as workers. This shaped a new social order. Europeans held the highest position in society. Racism is the belief that someone is inferior because of racial traits, such as skin color. Africans Native Americans
