1 Grammar Review When should you use passive voice? Choose two correct answers. When you want to be more direct. When the doer of the action is unknown. When the emphasis needs to be on the receiver of the action. When you want to be more forceful.

2 Grammar Spotlight (In notes)
Sentences need not always begin with a subject. Beginning with other structures provides variety as well as emphasis to an important detail. Beginning with a word: Stunned, Gretchen burst into tears. Beginning with a phrase: Unable to believe her eyes, Gretchen burst into tears. Beginning with a clause: Because she was not expecting a surprise party, Gretchen burst into tears.
