1. THE CIVIL REGISTRATION PROCESS IN TANZANIA

2. The Civil Registration in the country is governed by the following laws .
Registration of Births and Deaths is governed by the law known as The Births and Deaths Registration Act Cap 108 R.E 2002 which came into force in 1920 and last amended in 2009.
Matters relating to Marriages and Divorce are governed by The Law of Marriage Act Cap 29 R.E 2002 which came into force in 1971 and was revised in 2002.

3. Civil registration is centralized and conducted at the Ward level not lower hence has its challenges which I will explain while taking you through the process

7. Death at Home Death at Home VEO issue introductory letter
If Death is after 30 days of occurences, then the relative has to bring supporting doccuments(minutes from relatives meeting to appoint the administrator of deceased’s estate) and will be charged 400,00 for Deaths after 30 days of occurrence but below 10 years and 10,000 for Deaths registered after 10 years of occurrence.

Licence to conduct marriage is 5,500,marriage certificate is 33,000, special licence to conduct marriage is 38,000 and licence to conduct marriage on special place is 55000,

Divorce certificate is 7000 upon presentation of Court decree and marriage certificate.

The country is finalising The Comprehensive Assessment of CRVS where the whole process of CR has been re looked and new proposal recommended.
