2. What is an infographic?
Infographics are a visual way of presenting data information or educational material intended to present information clearly and quickly. Infographics should usually rely more on images and diagrams to present information rather than writing.

3. Step 1: Visit https://piktochart.com/
and sign up for free using your SHU address!

4. Step 2:
On the Dashboard you will see new projects for you to click on and create.
If you'd prefer, you can start by looking at the available templates. To do so, click on 'Presentation' in the menu bar down the left side of the screen.

5. Step 3: Browse the different templates at your leisure.
When you hover over the templates, options will appear allowing you to 'Preview' or 'Use Template'.

6. Step 4:
If you decide to create your presentation without a template...

7. Step 5:
Piktochart breaks down your project into separate 'blocks' that are all part of the same infographic. You must click on the block you wish to work on.
When your infographic is published it will appear as one coherent picture.

8. Step 6:
The menu along the left hand side of the dashboard is where you can insert:
shapes and lines
icons
photos
text
graphs, charts and videos from the 'tools' section
change the background

9. Step 7:
Use keywords to search for icons that match what you need. For example, when searching 'library', the following icons appear.
Click on the block you wish to insert the selected icon, then click on the icon and it will automatically appear in the block.
You can also change the colours of these icons to match the theme you're using. Click on the icon to select it, then click on the colour tool.

10. Step 8: This bar will appear alongside each block when it is selected
Add block will add a new block beneath the selected one
Move down will move the block down one section, moving the next one up

Clone block will create a new duplicate block for you. This is useful if you want the next block to have the exact same format

Delete block will remove the block
Settings
Settings will allow you to adjust the width of the block

11. Step 9:
To publish your finished infographic, click 'download' in the top right hand corner of the screen
Make sure you download the infographic as a medium sized PNG file. This format will work for online publication but will not be suitable for printing.
Click 'download as PNG' and select where to save it!
