1
Limiting factors which affect the growth rate of a plant
Temperature Muskaan + Habiba
2
Hypothesis We believe as you increase the temperature, the growth of the plant will also increase. This is because increasing the temperature will increase the kinetic energy within the plants. The kinetic energy will cause the rate of photosynthesis and respiration to rise as well.
3
How does temperature affect the growth of plants.
In our opinion, as you increase the temperature, the rate of the photosynthesis increases as well. This is because there is a positive correlation between the temperature and the rate of photosynthesis when the optimum temperature is reached, the highest amount of photosynthesis is obtained.
4
How does temperature affect the growth of plants.
The rate of photosynthesis will start to decrease when the temperatures get too high because the enzymes in the plant start to denature (when the active site changes shape and the substrate can no longer work).
5
Photosynthesis & Respiration
Photosynthesis means using sunlight to make glucose whereas, respiration means using glucose to make ATP (energy). ATP is used AND MADE by the plant DURING CELLULAR RESPIRATION. The energy produced is used by the plant to help it grow. Increasing photosynthesis will mean increasing the amount of glucose produced. If the glucose increases then so does the amount of ATP produced in the respiration process. Lots of ATP means the plant will grow more bigger.

Investigation on plant growth
Equipment: Daffodil plant x5 Plant pots with compost A thermometer 30cm ruler
7
Investigation on plant growth
Variables: Independent variable: We change the temperature of the plant (where it is situated). Dependent variable: we measure the rate of photosynthesis. Control variable: the things that are going to be the same are: How much water we give to the plants (50ml of water twice daily) The duration at which we leave the plants to grow (4 weeks)

Investigation on plant growth
We will get 5 plants and put them in different areas. The areas include: a fridge (extremely cold) Under a shade (cool) Outside in normal temperature (normal, the temperature varies with time of day) On the windowsill with radiators (warm, depends on house) Boiler room with lots of light (Extremely hot)
9
Investigation on plant growth
We will measure the height of the plant and the average temperature of the designated area which it will be in. We will place our plants in their designated areas and water them everyday twice using 50ml of water. After 4 weeks we will collect our results by measuring the height again and taking the 1st height away from the 2nd height. We will check our hypothesis and make a conclusion.
10
Investigation on plant growth
We know through our research that different plants grow best at different temperatures. Broccoli grows best at colder temperatures compared to maize, which has a higher optimum temperature. When doing our experiment to increase the range of results we get, we could investigate the rate of plant growth using different types of plants
