1 satellite communications

2 Channel access method - Satellite communications
In satellite communications, multiple access is the capability of a communications satellite to function as a portion of a communications link between more than one pair of satellite terminals concurrently. Three types of multiple access presently used with communications satellites are code-division multiple access|code-division, frequency-division multiple access|frequency-division, and time-division multiple access|time-division multiple access.

3 Sino Satellite Communications Company
The 'Sino Satellite Communications Company' or 'Sinosat' () was a Chinese limited company, which provided satellite communications through a pair of communications satellites in geostationary orbit. It ceased to exist in January 2008, when it merged with the China Satellite Communications Corporation to form the China Direct Broadcast Satellite Company. Their two satellites were, Sinosat-1 and Sinosat-3. A third satellite, Sinosat-2, failed shortly after launch.

4 X band - Satellite communications
In engineering, this pair of frequency bands may be referred to as the 8 / 7GHz X band satellite communications system.

5 Space and Missile Systems Center - Military Satellite Communications Systems Directorate
Day-to-day operations of the military satellite communications systems are handled by the 50th Space Wing at Schriever AFB.

6 Defense Satellite Communications System
The 'Defense Satellite Communications System' (DSCS) provides the United States with military communications to support globally distributed military users

7 Defense Satellite Communications System - Background
DSCS went though three major phases - IDCSP (Interim Defense Communication Satellite Program), DSCS- II, and DSCS-III. Since the first launch, DSCS has been the workhorse of Military satellite|military Communications satellite|satellite communications. All DSCS III satellites have exceeded their 10-year design life.

8 Satellite communications - History
Today's satellite communications can trace their origins all the way back to the Moon. A project named Communication Moon Relay was a telecommunication project carried out by the United States Navy. Its objective was to develop a secure and reliable method of wireless communication by using the Moon as a natural communications satellite.

9 Satellite communications - History
The world's first inflatable satellite — or satelloon, as they were informally known — helped lay the foundation of today's satellite communications

10 Satellite communications - History
Hence, it was not the first communications satellite, but it was the first artificial satellite in the steps leading to today's satellite communications.

11 Satellite communications - History
Belonging to ATT Corporation|ATT as part of a multi-national agreement between ATT, Bell Labs|Bell Telephone Laboratories, NASA, the British General Post Office (United Kingdom)|General Post Office, and the Orange S.A.|French National PTT (Post Office) to develop satellite communications, it was launched by NASA from Cape Canaveral on July 10, 1962, the first privately sponsored space launch

12 Satellite communications - Geostationary orbits
Satcom 1 was widely used because it had twice the communications capacity of the competing Westar 1 in America (24 Transponder (Satellite communications)|transponders as opposed to the 12 of Westar 1), resulting in lower transponder-usage costs

13 Arab Satellite Communications Organization
The 'Arab Satellite Communications Organization' (often abbreviated as 'Arabsat') is a leading communications satellite operator in the Arab World, headquartered in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

14 Arab Satellite Communications Organization - History
The foundation of Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat) dates back to the end of the 1960s
