WHAT IS IT? Halloween is a celebration of irish origin observed in many countries. Halloween includes wering costumes, trick-or- treating, carving pumpkins into jack-o´-lanterns, telling scary stories and watching horror films

WHEN AND WHERE? Halloween is celebrated in USA since 19th century.
It is celebrated in meny english speaking countries (USA, Canada, Great Britan, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand) Hallowen is celebrated on 31st October.

TRICK OR TREAT Children in costumes travel from house to house and ask for treats with the phrase "Trick or treat". That means neighbours must give them some treat (some sweets or money). If they don´t give some treat to children, children will do some mischief.

COSTUMES People wear different types of costumes on Halloween.
They wear animal costumes, scary costumes or they look like their favourite character. One of the most popular costumes are superheroes, characters from Harry Potter, captain Jack Sparrow from Pirate of Caribbean and characters from cartoons.

DECORATIONS Typical colour for Halloween and autmn is orange.
There are orange pumkins, black and hairy spiders on webs and skeletons and skulls in gardens and on the walls of houses.

HALLOWEEN AROUND THE WORLD
Halloween is different in each country. Great Britain and USA - children go door-to- door trick or treating, they ask for sweets. Spanish-speaking nations - there is Halloween called "El Dia de los Muertos“. People remember their dead friends and families, everywhere are colourful flowers and sugar skulls.
