Physiotherapy Why? Is it needed?

With OA of a joint there is destruction of the bone/ joint but also weakening of the muscle and loss of function of muscle. The bone is just corrected in the operation the muscles aren’t. The muscles surrounding the joint providing stability and optimal function need to be strengthen post operatively

Hip Protocols

Knee Protocols No Kneeling for 3 months No Twisting
No Driving for 6 weeks No Swimming for 6 weeks

Hip Dislocation Can occur in about 4%
Leg internally rotated, shortened and unable to weight bear

Post operatively Swelling and bruising for up to 6 weeks
Sleep disturbed Tiredness/Fatigue
