FOR 123 YEARS, UP TO 1918 POLAND WAS UNDER OCCUPATION OF THREE NATIONS: RUSSIA, AUSTRIA, PRUSSIA (GERMANY AT PRESENT). OVER THE 123 YEARS POLAND DID NOT EXIST. DURING PARTITION TIMES POLES COULDN’T USE THEIR LANGUAGE AND THEY COULDN’T MAINTAIN THEIR TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS. THE OCCUPANTS TRIED TO ERASE THE HISTORY OF POLAND FROM POLES’ CONSCIOUSNESS. POLES, HOWEVER, DIDN’T FORGET ABOUT THEIR ORIGIN AND, DESPITE THE BANS AND OFTEN RISKING THEIR LIVES, THEY SECRETLY USED THE LANGUAGE AND CELEBRATED CHURCH AND PUBLIC FESTIVALS ACCORDING TO POLISH CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS.
