Obligate intracellular pathogen
Gram-negative coccoid
Closely related to Chlamydia suis (affects only swine), Chlamydia pecorum (infects ruminants, koalas and pigs) and Chlamydia muridarum (affects only mice and hamsters).
Means of transmission:
Sexual, direct or contaminated
surfaces, passage through
birth canal, and flies
Leads to uncontrollable
discharge
