A total of 39 credits in the major
Five required courses
PSY 101 Introduction to Psychology
Need to earn a C or better in order to enroll in any further psychology courses
PSY 306 Statistics in Psychological Research (Prerequisite: PSY 101 with a grade of C or better and completion of college basic math requirement)
PSY 450 Research Methods (Prerequisite: PSY 306 with a grade of C or better)
PSY 471 History and Systems of Psychology (Prerequisite: PSY 101 with a grade of C and 6 additional hours of Psychology)
PSY 472 Seminar on Psychology (Prerequisite: PSY 450)

In addition to your required courses, you will choose one content course in each of five areas (15 credits)
Biological and Cognitive Psychology
Social/Personality Psychology
Developmental Psychology
Clinical Psychology
Applied Psychology and Diversity
Then, down the road, you will choose three elective courses, at least two at the 400-level (9 credits) One course from the following list may count toward the major: PSY 488, PSY 495, PSY 496, PSY 498, PSY 499. This combination provides for both depth and breadth.

9. IF - Intellectual Foundation
The purpose of the IF Program is to develop the skills and habits of the mind required for a life of intellectual curiosity and civic engagement. New and transfer undergraduates who entered Buffalo State College during the summer 2014 or later must complete the Intellectual Foundations 2014 program. An AA/AS does not waive IF 2014 requirements for transfer students.

11. A Few Words about the Psychology B.S. Degree
A few specialized students go into the Psychology B.S. tracks:
Aging
Biopsychology
Clinical Psychology
Environmental Psychology
Infancy
Industrial/Organizational Psychology
It is not automatic. Requires department approval. You must talk to your advisor by your junior year.
The B.A. and the B.S. are equally prestigious degrees
