Contracts Industry Council (CIC) Update

2. What is the CIC?
Forum of Government and industry partners to develop a culture of continuous improvement in order to produce better products/services for the warfighter
We exchange ideas with the goal of enhancing processes in order to do things smarter, better, and more efficiently
Our collaboration helps the SPAWAR/Industry team co-evolve our technologies to maintain our competitive advantage and best address Warfighter challenges
The CIC membership is comprised of SSC LANT Government personnel and six (6) Industry members

3. What is the CIC? (Cont.)
The industry members are nominated by the respective Presidents of the AFCEA Lowcountry (3 members) and the CDCA (3 members)
represent small, mid-sized and large business
They are approved and appointed by the CIC Chair (Steve Harnig)
Serve a 3 year term
Other professional organizations, such as TASC, NDIA, and WID, doing business with SSC LANT may nominate Associate Members

4. What is the CIC? (Cont.) Associate Members are invited to:
Attend  planning, ‘post-review, and action item execution’ meetings with the extended CIC partners
Provide feedback to standing CIC members when solicited for input
Submit issues/concerns to CIC members for presentation at meetings
Do not submit issues or concerns related to a specific RFP or Sources Sought. Those should be addressed with the associated SSC LANT Contracts person
We post CIC meeting minutes on the CDCA and AFCEA websites

6. Notable CIC Initiatives
Continue to receive feedback from industry on successes/ improvements
Continue to collect and discuss feedback from the Tech Exchanges and Industry days to make them even better, to include more time with technical leads in 1-on-1 sessions
Worked to improve the Task Order Forecast to make it more valuable to industry with respect to the data included and continue to refine based on inputs gathered
CIC is looking into issues with the new base access process.  SSC Atlantic moved to an automated Check In-Check Out (CICO) Move/Add/Change (MAC) Process
Provide feedback on Industry Media Campaigns – How can SSC LANT incorporate Social Media into their internal efforts
Provided details on FEDSIM
Reviewed and provided feedback on the DD254 issues/ guidance document that was recently distributed and posted on eCommerce
Continuing to gather and share intel on the Seaport-e follow-on (Seaport NxG)
Gathered and shared intel on the path NAVAIR is taking for their new acquisition strategy

7. Upcoming Initiatives
Establish a government/ Industry working group to develop a solution on standard labor categories (Gary, Derrick, and Heather will be working it from the industry side)
Host another CIC (Industry) Planning Meeting
Host a town hall with Steve Harnig
