We are collecting Boxtops for Education until October 31st, 2017.  The top class seller in K-2 and 3-5 will receive a pizza party. 
Our Book Fair in the Media Center will continue each day this week until Friday, October 13, 2017 from 7:15 AM until 2:45 PM.  Friday the Book Fair will conclude at 1:00 PM.
The ACPSD Board of Education approved the makeup days for Hurricane Irma for Monday, October 23, 2017 and Wednesday, January 3, 2018.  As a result, Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, October 23 and Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM.  I will be getting in touch with you for the time for your child’s meeting.
Oct. 9th – Oct. 13th
Reading: We will be working on text structures and Main Idea and details in nonfiction text. There will be a comprehension test on Thursday. Read 20 min. and log your reading for homework. 2 logs = treasure box
Math: We will continue our unit on adding with regrouping. Students should be able to tell you why they are regrouping. We are also working on the 5 multiplication facts. Chapter 2 adding and 5 facts multiplication quiz.
.Writing:. Students are writing short narratives. Students are learning how to use a Storyteller’s voice in their writing, tell a story bit by bit, use dialogue, include lots of details about the actions, and self- reflect on their writing to improve it.
Science: We will be using our class notes and science books to take an open book test on minerals, rocks, and bodies of water. We will be learning about renewable and nonrenewable resources. Please have students read over notes each night.
The Art Room (From Mrs. Hargrove) K-5 students are currently creating their masterpieces for the annual Art to Remember fundraiser. Families will be able to purchase items displaying their child's work. These make great holiday gifts and keepsakes! Funds raised create the school art budget!  The deadline for purchase is October 11, 2017.
Friday our PTO will sell popcorn for $1.00.  They will also open the PTO School Store selling items from $0.50 to $1.00
