3 Out-of-class Activity Design -1
Learning Objective(s) of Out-of-Class Activity At the end of watching the video students should be able to know What are microcapsule? Helps them to select method for microcapsule formulation depending upon coating materials and physicochemical properties of drugs. Key Concept(s) to be covered At the end of watching the video student should be able to know Microcapsule Coating materials used and different techniques for preparation of microcapsules .

5 Out-of-class Activity Design - 1
Learning Objective Assessment Strategy Expected duration (in min) Additional Instructions (if any) Definition of microcapsules, coating material used, method of preparation and their application Graded activity (3 Marks) Q1.Which of following polymer can not be used for making enteric coated microcapsule a.Shellec b. Zein c. gelatin d. cellulose acetate phthalate Q2. Particle size of microcapsule range in between a.1-10 μm b μm c μm d. less than 1μm. Q3. In Air suspension process, the processing approach is a. Top spray b. bottom spray c. tangential spray d. horizontal spray Assignment (2 marks): write application of microcapsule in targetted drug delivery. 20 min Watch and then answer Q1 and Q2, along with given assignment. Submit answers to all questions and assignment 3 hours before coming to class. These 5 marks will be added as internal assessment for final exam. Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective Total activity duration 45 min

6 In-class Activity Design -1
Learning Objective(s) of In - Class Activity At end of the class student will be able to select coating material and best method for preparation of microspheres depending upon physicochemical properties of drugs. Key Concept(s) to be covered 1. Preparation of microsphere by different coating polymers using various techniques .

7 In-class Activity Design -1
Active Learning activity(ies) that I plan to do Think-Pair-Share Concept clarification using. Peer Instruction TPS Strategy – What Instructor does : Compare different method of preparation of microcapsule and write advantages and disadvantages for each method. Think - 7 min. Pair (~10 minutes) Instruction: Now pair up and compare your answers. Share (~10 minutes) Student are asked to make a group to share their answer with class and seen whether there are different answers. After sharing is done advantages and disadvantages of each method are explained.

8 In-class Activity Design -2
Peer Instruction Strategy –  Q 1: Release rate from a coated formulation depends upon a) Polymer ratio b) Membrane porosity c) Thickness of coat. d) all above For this question student are asked to first vote individually. Then told to discuss with peers and come to consensus and at the end explained how release rate depend upon different factors.

9 In-class Activity Design -2
Justify why the above is an active learning strategy In both the above strategies, students have to know about coating materials as well as each method of preparation in detail to write advantage and disadvantages. They are supposed to think deeply about the all method of preparations they were familiarized in out-of-class and do higher order thinking. Hence it is active learning.
