5 About Me FHS Brag Sheet – this survey is necessary for you to have the best recommendation letter possible. Complete this ASAP and let your counselor know when you are done. My Assessments – offers career/learning/personality assessments – can provide you with insight to a possible college and career path Interesting Things About Me Create a resume Profile View your GPA Update/Edit your address

6 College Research College Search – enter various criteria and a list of schools will be generated that meet that criteria Scattergrams – chose the college you’re interested in, your GPA and test scores. A scattergram will display where you fall amongst other students from FHS who have applied. Acceptance History – see where FHS students have been accepted

Click “Add to this List” Look Up – enter college name, select the school Check off “I have submitted my application”

Registering Use the same address you used for Naviance This keeps the address consistent for linking Common App and Naviance together Be sure that the address is APPROPRIATE Check your regularly Enter your demographic information for registration as it appears on formal documents! Phone number – cell vs. home phone Your account will become active!

The purpose of the Dashboard is to provide one screen that shows the status of your applications By clicking on any of the schools, you can see what sections are left to work on.

Welcome, Linda! Frst Year ICAID Cmmon App The “My Colleges” screen is where you complete work for each college that you intend to apply to. First ADD the college to the list.

19 Type in your college’s information Click  on  “Search”

20 Check off your school and click "Add”

21 Essay What do you want the readers of your application to know aside from your grades, courses and test scores. 650 words is your limit, not your goal. Applications will not accept responses shorter than 250 words. Have someone review your essay Don’t repeat information that is in your application.

DO NOT request your counselor or teacher recommendations on Common App!

What if I choose not to waive? Sends message to letter writer that you don’t trust them Less likely to be honest – more likely to make generic comments College will wonder why you didn’t feel comfortable waiving your right The teacher you choose should be someone who would say nice things about you!

The Common Application Essay prompts are available now to view. Start early! Transcript Release Forms need to be returned ASAP Transcripts and other supporting documentation WILL NOT be sent to your schools until this form is returned Brag Sheets need to be completed and submitted ASAP Recommenders must be given at least 10 school days to write letters If you’re considering athletics in college, speak to your counselor and Ms. Burd There will be summer “Boot Camps” and senior presentations to refresh students’ memories!
