2. GOALS: To read 4 texts related to our essential question
To deepen your understanding of the texts by discussing and analyzing those texts with your group
To earn an individual grade based on your individual contributions to the group

3. SMALL GROUP ROLES
WORDSMITH: records group’s definitions of the Concept Vocabulary listed at the beginning of each text for each group member to copy into their own notebook
SECRETARY: Records group’s answers to comprehension check questions to be submitted to me on the checklist
SUMMARIZER: Records Craft and Structure group answers to be checked in class
MONITOR: Records contributions made by individual members that helped the group move forward/records any questions that the group has to be submitted to me on the checklist

4. GRADING
Your grade for this small group will be determined by how well you execute your role in the small group setting
This small group work will not result in a final group project
You will NOT earn a group grade that is determined by one person doing all the work

5. EXPECTATIONS: You will speak respectfully to your peers.
You will share your ideas without criticism.
You will allow others to share their ideas without criticism.
You will work together to come to a better understanding of each text.
You will execute your role in the group fully for your individual grade.
