2 HOW THEY FORM They need moisture to get started. They start at warm deep water. The air above this water is warm and full of moisture. Warm air is also light and it rises in the sky. Warm air cools as it rises. Cool air cannot hold as much moisture as warm air. When warm air rises its moisture turns into rain clouds. Hurricanes bring wind. When warm air rises cold air rushes through to take its place. Wind and rain clouds can form a tropical storm. This is a storm that has strong winds but not as strong as a hurricanes winds. Hurricanes start as tropical storms but they gain more and more strength.

6 How much damage Over the sea a hurricane’s cyclone or typhoon can cause the level to rise by several meters. This rise of water makes the water hit the shore near the storm. Over on the land the hurricanes do a lot of damage with powerful blasting winds. Hurricanes clouds cause heavy rain which causes flooding.

7 There are kinds of categories of how harsh it is like a category 1 would not be as bad as a category 5 which is the worst.
