Today’s Task In pairs: Choose at least 5 logical fallacies from the handout Select sources (articles, TED Talks, speeches or other sources) Identify the logical fallacies contained in the sources Illustrate your examples using the Logical Fallacy Referee I have provided a link to the document with the list of fallacies in the last slide of the presentation, the document was pulled and curated by my partner Edward Steinhauser from the Purdue OWL site.

Logical Fallacy Referee
A simple Google Image search for the “Logical Fallacy Referee” will present you with dozens of options for calling a “foul” on the articles you choose to select for this assignment. Order of Presentation for each fallacy: Slide 1: Passage from source (could be video clip) Slide 2: Logical Fallacy Referee Slide 3: Annotated passage from Slide 1. Underline or highlight evidence of the fallacy and explain why it is wrong I was introduced to the Logical Fallacy Referee at my initial AP seminar training. My consultant, Allison Malloy told me how she used the meme and I built this lesson based on her instruction.

How to Format Your Slides
Present a logical fallacy excerpt from an article/speech related to the American Indian theme LOGICAL FALLACY REFEREE! Call foul on the play by stating the logical fallacy and justify your rationale for the foul You will repeat this process at least four times (one for each logical fallacy); five total I use this lesson during my unit using a socioeconomic theme, feel free to use any theme you want or to remove the language about a theme altogether.
